The Government has put measures into place to support businesses and sole traders at this time. We refer you to the following link https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/financial-support-for-businesses-during-coronavirus-covid-19. If you are a Tier 1 Visa applicant- please note that some of the Government support is state funding and so taking such funding may affect your immigration status and/or application. The first step is to contact the individuals/businesses that you owe funds to and negotiate an extension to make payment, or a payment holiday. A lot of lender’s are providing payment holidays of 3 months. If you are uncomfortable doing so, you may instruct our office to contact these individuals for you. If you receive a debt recovery letter you are advised to seek independent legal advice without delay.
If you receive any notice of insolvency or bankruptcy during Covid-19, you must not ignore the relevant notice. The majority of Court’s are still working remotely, and hearings are taking place via video link. Please do not think that you are protected due to the current lock-down. Upon receiving such a notice, please contact our office where one of our experienced lawyers can advise you on the next steps.
Contact our office with a copy of any notice from the Court. Aston Brooke Solicitors acts with many insolvency practitioners and there are options to annul that bankruptcy if you can pay the debts. Please contact our litigation team on 02034754321 if you have any queries regarding any insolvency matter.
