The current coronavirus pandemic has understandably caused concern for those looking to buy a new home. The UK government currently has restrictions enforcing social distancing and has issued limited circumstances when you are able to leave your home. Therefore of course it can be tricky to understand how to view and inspect a property before placing an offer to buy. Aston Brooke Solicitors have conducted extensive research to help you with ways you can continue to find your perfect new home while staying safe.
While the UK is currently on lock down, many estate agents are able to help you with your new property search and still taking new enquiries by telephone and email. You can find your local estate agents contact details by visiting their website. Many property details are listed on most estate agents websites, including photographs, dimensions and asking prices.
The current position is that you are not to leave your home unless you satisfy one of the reasons allowed by the government: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others/ .
Property viewings are not considered as a key reason to leave your home and therefore no physical property viewings are currently taking place. However, some estate agents are offering virtual viewings of properties. A virtual viewing is a 3D image of the property which can be viewed in a virtual reality system allowing you to “walk around” the property in the comfort of your own home. The types of virtual viewings will vary depending on each estate agent.
This will of course depend on the UK government’s decision whether to allow physical inspections of properties, you can contact the estate agent to arrange the same. It is important to ensure that when attending these physical viewings you liaise with the agent how the viewing will take place and the safety measures put in place to protect your safety.
Aston Brooke Solicitors have enquired with local estate agents, who have confirmed that they are planning ways to ensure the most safe and effective physical viewings including use of PPE and limited number of viewers in one inspection.
Aston Brooke Solicitors are continuing to progress property matters in the most safe and effective way we can by keeping up to date on government guidance to ensure the best results for our clients.
